[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 24, 1935.] [Class 122 (i)] A cushion 9 of compressed metal powder, e.g. aluminium is arranged in a ring shaped space below the piston head to assist heat flow towards the skirt, whilst maintaining a high temperature at the central portion 6 of the head. Working .loads are transmitted through a projection 3 on the head and a member 4, which may be of inverted cup shape, to the skirt.
