Cylinders, heads and liners of, cooling; sparking-plugs, arrangement of, and materials for making.-A water-cooled cylinder head a is integral with or rigidly attached to, a jacket f and a liner b is screwed into it at g and has a sliding connection at n. The points at j, n are made watertight by packings p, a split ring q, which may be flanged, being screwed on to the liner. The head and liner may be of aluminium or a light alloy, and steel respectively and the liner is strengthened by ribs o. In a multicylinder thin liners are screwed into a block common to all the cylinders. Two sockets c are provided for sparking-plugs.
