Abstract

306,640. Morton, F. C. Dec. 8, 1927. Cylinders, cooling.-A detachable sheet metal water jacket d is mounted on a cylinder by a threaded ring e which engages a flange c on the cylinders and a thread d<2> on the jacket and draws together flanges d<1>, b on the jacket and cylinder. A water-tight joint is made at a sparking-plug boss f by a flanged sleeve g having an annular groove which engages a ring fixed to the jacket d. The Frovisional Specification describes a sheet-metal jacket which is clamped between a cylinder flange and a ring screwed on to a flange on the other end of the cylinders, annular grooves, packed with rubber, asbestos or lead being provided for the edges of the jacket; the ring may, alternatively be screwed on to the jacket.
