344,939. Construction and cooling of cylinders. BARBAROU, M. J. B., 28, Place St.-Ferdinand, Paris. Dec. 14, 1929, No. 38400. Convention date, Feb. 2. [Class 7 (ii).] In a multi-cylinder engine in which separate cylinder barrels are screwed into a head 2, alternate base members 5, which are screwed against shoulders 6, have thickened parts 13 formed with recesses 14 to accommodate one another. Sheet-metal water jackets 7 are welded to the members 5 and have flanges 9 which compass packings 10. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a locking ring 3 formed of a material having the same coefficient of expansion as that of the barrel 1 ; the ring has a taper threaded portion which engages with the head 2. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
