Abstract

235,620. Zulver, C. March 13, 1924. Cylinders, construction of and cooling.-The cylinder liner i of a double-acting engine is made in two parts with an expansion joint at j, and is spaced from the barrel by longitudinal ribs a<1> cut away at a<2>. The cylinder ends are formed with internal portions b<1>, c<1> abutting against the ends of the liner and providing free communication between the cylinder jacket and the cooling-spaces in the cylinder ends. The valve chamber k in the lower end is arranged at an angle. The piston is preferably constructed as described in Specifications 235,939 and 236,666.
