Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-In double-acting internal-combustion engines an unobstructed combustion chamber is provided on each side of the piston by forming substantially hemispherical cavities A, A<1> centrally in the ends B, B<1> of the piston, and connecting the piston to the crosshead by two or more piston-rods D disposed near the circumference of the piston. The charge is injected into each end of the cylinder through a central valve C. The construction is applicable to tandem-cyinder engines.
