Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.- In a doubile acting engine with central exhaust ports 6 the piston is cooled by circulating fluid, which passes to and from the piston through two hollow rods 3, 3<a>. The liquid-fuel injection valves 5, 5a are in the centre of two covers, and a compressed air valve is placed on each side of each fuel valve. The air valves may be at the sides of the cylinder.
