Abstract

354,958. Cylinders; crank-chambers. WINTON ENGINE CO., West 106th Street, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A. July 11, 1930, No. 21098. Convention date, Feb. 14. [Class 7 (ii).] In a V-engine, the two cylinder blocks 1 are formed in one casting which is connected by long bolts 21, 22 and by studs 26, to a one-piece crankcase 8. The blocks 1 support barrels 6 by flanges 5, and a web 7 forms a connecting passage between the cooling water chambers. Openings 27, with covers 28, provide access to the bolts 21, 22 which are joined by common nuts 23 fixing the main bearing covers.
