Abstract
446,148. Internal-combustion engines. BUGATTI, E., Molsheim, Bas-Rhin, France. July 30, 1935, No. 21609. Convention date, Aug. 2, 1934. [Class 83 (ii)] [See also Groups XXVII and XXVI] Steel cylinders, which are individually machined, are welded together and to light metal end pieces, comprising casings for valve gear and other accessories, along flat surfaces b<1>, b<2>. The lower end d of each cylinder is die-pressed in the hot state into an arch-shape to provide clearance for the big-ends of the connecting- rods, and these ends d are welded to intermediate members f forming supports for the main bearings. A sheet metal water jacket and crank case are afterwards welded to the structure.
