Abstract

471,533. Valve gear; casings. VILLIERS, C. A., and VILLIERS HAY DEVELOPMENT, Ltd. March 4, 1936, No. 6594. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi)] In engines having several cylinders in line and with inclined overhead valves actuated by rockers and push rods, the rockers 5 are arranged in casings 6 disposed substantially parallel with the crank-shaft and are operated by cam-shafts at each side of the line of cylinders. In a modification, the rocker casings are inclined to the crank-shaft so that the ends of the rockers actuated by the push rods are farther outwards than the other ends, thereby reducing the angle between the push rods and valve stems. The push rods 9 are arranged in casings 7 situated in the spaces between adjacent cylinders. The rocker casings are supplied with oil through the casings 7.
