548,634. Cylinders; valve gear. LANCIA & C. FABBRICA AUTOMOBILI-TORINOSOC. ANON. April 15, 1941, No. 4917. Convention date, April 17, 1940. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi)] In an engine having cylinders 1, 2, 3, &c., the inclined overhead valves a<SP>1</SP> b<SP>1</SP>, a<SP>2</SP> b<SP>2</SP>, a<SP>3</SP> b<SP>3</SP>, are arranged with their axes in planes parallel to the longitudinal central plane of the engine, the valves of one cylinder lying in a plane to one side of the central plane, and those of the adjacent cylinder in a plane at the'other side of the central plane. The dome-shaped combustion chambers c<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>2</SP>, c<SP>3</SP>, or the whole cylinders, may also be laterally displaced from the central plane to the same side as the valves. The contiguous valves a<SP>2</SP>, b<SP>1</SP> and a<SP>3</SP>, b<SP>2</SP> are actuated by rockers g and levers f, while the end valves a<SP>1</SP>, b<SP>3</SP> are actuated by doublearmed levers f<SP>1</SP>. The spark-plugs h are all at one side.
