[Class 7 (ii)] A double-walled liner 2, through which cooling-water circulates, is surrounded by an exhaust-gas jacket comprised by a helical passage 20 formed by a continuous helical rib 21 which may be formed on a casing, itself preferably water-cooled, or on the outer wall of the liner. The water space of the liner 2 is accessible for cleaning by removal of annular covers 11, 12 which seat on rubber packings. The liner 2 preferably comprises a thin cast-iron inner part, having longitudinal ribs 10, which is inserted under pressure in a steel outer part 3.
