Cylinders.-The cover 4 of the cylinder of a internal-combustion or other engine is introduced through the interior of the cylinder and is held against a flange 7 on the cylinder, or on the liner 2, by means of a ring 9, which is moved axially by screws 10, and bears against a split ring 8 sprung into a groove in the cover. Alternatively, the rings 8 and 9 may be replaced by segmental rings.
