[Class 7 (ii).] A liner is formed by helicallywinding a steel band a which has a tendency to expand and so exerts an outward pressure on the cylinder. The liner, which may be machined after insertion, is made from finished bright-drawn band steel. The edges c may be stepped, as shown, or transverse, or inclined to the cylinder axis.
