Joint-making packing.-In an internal-combustion engine or compressor having aligned cylinders as described in Specification 183,849, [Class 122 (i), Engine and like cylinders &c.], the cylinders have broad flanges with opposed grooves receiving registering rings. The latter may be of a metal having a higher coefficient of expansion than the cylinders and act as packing.
