Piston packing.-In a piston for an internal-combustion engine having split metallic packing of cup-leather type, two keeper rings are employed with a single packing ring, or one or more keeper rings with two or more packing-rings in a single groove. A single keeper ring B may be placed between the flanges of two packing-rings A, A<1>, or a single ring B<1> above or B<2> below both flanges may be used, or, as shown, two or more keeper rings may be used. The packing-rings may have overlapping ends, the keeper rings being recessed to receive the overlaps. Specifications 8571/15, 10120/15, 17221/15, 17222/15, 123,328, [Class 83 (ii), Metal articles &c.], 123,329, 123,330, and 123,331 are referred to.
