Piston packing.-In a split packing-ring for the piston of an internal-combustion engine of the type in which a coned flange A, Fig. 3, bears at its edge A' on the cylinder wall and a flange A<2> is secured in a groove in the piston, the flange A' is bevelled near the split in order to avoid twisting of the ring by the explosion. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the packing-ring is secured by a keeper ring C, and the flange A<2> is cut away near the split, preferably on a curve struck from the edge A'. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the keeper ring is dispensed with, and the packing-ring is formed with a corrugated flange A<5>. The edge A<6> of this flange is tapered at the ends of the ring.
