Piston packing.-In piston packing wherein a packing-ring B of conical configuration on the inside is acted upon by a wedge ring C coned externally to fit the packing-ring and acted on longitudinally by helical springs D, the packing- ring is lightened by arranging the conical portion in discontinuous segments b<3>, Fig. 2, or, in the case of piston valves, by providing the conical portion with circumferential grooves, Fig. 6.
