Piston packing.-In steam-engine pistons of tl e type having annular recesses in which split spring- metal rings are fitted so that both sides of the ring engage the recess with a working fit, the inner surface c of the ring f is arranged at an acute angle to the sides of the ring and groove next the adjacent end of the piston which receives the steam pressure.
