Abstract
24,287. Taylor, R. H. Nov. 17. Pistons.-A spring ring A of angular cross-section is placed between two packing-rings C held between the piston flange and junk-ring in the usual manner. The packing-rings are thereby pressed both against the cylinder surface and the faces of the piston flange and junk-ring. One end of the spring ring may be made with a lip or equivalent to fit into the other end, and has lugs to carry a tightening-bolt B and easing spring whereby the pressure on the packing may be regulated. Each packing-ring has a strengthening-rib C<1>, which may be scalloped to lighten it.
