Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-A cylinder cover A carries a valve, preferably the fuel valve, mounted in the centre of a water-cooled casing C fixed to the cover and surrounded by a liner D, an annular space E being left which communicates through pockets a* with other valves, e..g. a starting valve and a relief valve. The liner may have a water jacket cast integral with it, or the jacket may be integral with the casing containing the valves; also, the liner may have an annular member interposed between it and the annular space E.
