Cylinders, construction of and cooling.-A cast metal cylinder cover comprises a strong outer part b<1> to receive the stresses and a lighter inner part b<2> which is in contact with the hot gases; a current of water circulates through both of these parts. The face of the inner part may be flush with the cylinder cover joint as shown and be separated laterally from the outer part by a groove b<3> ; or it may project into the combustion chamber.
