Abstract
412,432. Cooling cylinders. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON., Winterthur, Switzerland. Aug. 3, 1933, No. 21815. Convention date, Oct. 22, 1932. [Class 7 (ii).] The cooling of the combustion end of a cylinder is improved by causing the cooling fluid to pass through a series of chambers 13 formed by ribs 11 having diametrically opposed gaps 14 and a surrounding sleeve 12 which is removed as a unit with the liner 1. The chambers 13 preferably decrease in cross-section and the exit is arranged so that all the cooling fluid passes through them ; the sleeve 12 is preferably made of a metal which will resist the action of sea water, e.g. stainless steel.
