Abstract

392,091. Cylinders. SULZER FR’RES SOC. ANON., Winterthur, Switzerland. Nov. 10, 1932, No. 31784. Convention date, Nov. 26, 1931. [Class 7 (ii).] The flange 6 of a cylinder liner is clamped between a cylinder head 3 and on an annular member 10 supported on the engine casing 5 ; by this means headroom required for dismantling is reduced and annular cooling-water conduits, partly formed by grooves 7, 8, 9 in the liner, are completed. These conduits and the cylinder jacket space 14 are connected by circumferentially-spaced inclined passages 11, 12, 13, the cooling-water being finally led to the head jacket by a pipe 15. The member 10 is preferably made of stainless steel. A shoulder 21 facilitates the withdrawal of the liner. The member 10 may be shrunk on, or welded to, the liner.
