A radial flange of a liner 11 rests on top of a crank-case 10 and is surrounded by a non- compressible spacer ring 15 through which pass the cylinder head securing bolts. Passages 18 are formed in the ring to mate with passages 20 Connecting the cooling jacket 21 to the cylinder head cooling chambers.
