Cylinder accessories such as fuel injection valves, starting air valves, pressure indicators, and pressure relief valves are mounted in sleeves 7 press-fitted into bores in an intermediate ring fitted between the cylinder and cylinder head, which ring is bipartite and consists of inner and outer rings 3, 4. The rings 3, 4, are located by recesses 13, 14, in the cylinder liner and frame 1, 2, and are clamped by bolts 15 between the parts 1, 2, and a barrel 5 supporting the cylinder cover 6 which forms a cage for the exhaust valve 8. A cooling water space 10 between the rings 3, 4, is connected to the cylinder jacket 12 by bores 11, the water being discharged through transverse bores in the outer ring 4.
