Abstract

575,600. Fuel injectors. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Aug. 16, 1944, No. 15633. Convention date, Feb. 17, 1943. [Class 7 (iii)] A liquid-fuel injection valve comprises a nozzle cooled by a surrounding jacket, the casing 11 of which has an inverted flange 12, which is pressed or shrunk on to the nozzle body to seal off the cooling space from the combustion chamber. The casing may be assembled by inverting the nozzle and heating the casing with a soldering lamp. It may be assembled cold by providing a tapering end to the nozzle body 5 and forcing the flange 12 thereon. The flow and return passages 3, 4 and the space 13 should have a constant cross-sectional area for the passage of the cooling liquid which may be oil or water. In the latter case, the casing should be made of stainless steel, copper, or a non- corrodible aluminium alloy. The passages 3, 4 and the fuel passages in the parts 1, 5. are aligned by a dowel pin.
