Abstract

755,383. Cooling cylinders; spray carburetters. FOWLER, G. B. Aug. 13, 1954 [Sept. 14, 1953], No. 23572/54. Classes 7(2) and 7(3) Cooling air flows over the cylinder cooling fins sinside a jacket 12 and the heated air is delivered to the intake pipe 16 into whichh fuel under pressure is injected through a nozzle 20 fed by a pump. The jacket 12, which may be covered with insulating material, almost completely surrounds the cylinder 6, which is one cylinder of a horizontally opposed four cylinder engine, and the cooling air enters the jacket at the bottom, Fig. 2, through a space defined by tubes 11, Fig. 3, surrounding the valve push rods and passes over ribs 7, 8, 9, on the cylinder. Each cylinder may be provided with two spark plugs or alternatively with three spark plugs as described in Specifications 575,099 and 614,168, one or more of the plugs being mounted in an adaptor as described in Specification 755,293.
