631,659. Cylinders. JAMESON, J. L. Oct. 24. 1945, Nos. 28078/45 and 15522/46. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi)] In a multi-cylinder engine, combustible mixture is fed through a chamber 9 having outlet ports arranged in its outer wall in the sequence of the cylinder fixing order, and ducts 6 curved in one direction only to the inlet valves 3, the sparking plugs 5 being on the outside of these curves. Turbulence is thus avoided and the mixture richness in the cylinder increases progressively away from the piston crown. Each duct 6 may be connected to a fuel-collecting chamber which may include an extra fuel nozzle, the cylinder charge being thus enriched during the piston stroke. In a radial-cylinder engine a rotary valve may maskoff the ducts 6 in turn. Specification 591,158 is referred to in both Provisional Specifications.
