726,985. Cooling and construction of cylinders. KLOCKNER-HUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AKT.-GES. March 4, 1953 [Oct. 11, 1952],No. 6039/53. Class 7 (2). An air-cooled two-stroke engine has a piston controlled exhaust port 6, and an exhaust pipe 7 connected directly to a cylinder 1 mounted to allow axial movement in acrankcasebore 4 and suspended, together with a cylinder head 2, from a cooling-air guide hood 8 which fits at the level of the exhaust port 6 on an engine casing part 9 also acting as a cooling-air guide. As shown, bolts 10, 11 respectively secure the cylinder 1 and head 2 to the hood 8 and the latter to the part 9. Cooling air impinges on the cylinder 1 on the side remote from the pipe 7 and is concentrated thereon by shaping cylinder cooling ribs 14 as shown in Fig. 2 A conical combustion chamber 12 and fuel injection nozzle 13 are provided. Inlet ports 5 are provided.
