Abstract

298,624. Sulzer FrÞres Soc. Anon. Oct. 13, 1927, [Convention date]. Cylinders, pipes for. - In a two-strokecycle engine having terminal air-scavenging and exhaust ports i, d, the first hot part of the exhaust is divided from the remainder, which is cooled by admixture with the scavenging air. The exhaust ports deliver into a chamber c formed with an outlet nozzle e; opposite this nozzle, and leading from a second chamber h is a pipe f. Another pipe g leads from this chamber h to atmosphere. The first part of the exhaust is at high pressure, and bridging the gap in the chamber h flows through the pipe f for use in any device. The second cooled and scavenged exhaust is not at such high pressure, and is unable to overcome the back pressure in the pipe f; as a consequence it flows out through the pipe g.
