Abstract
502,388. Regulating air supply' for combustion. SINDING, E. June 10, 1938, No. 17256. Convention date, April 6. [Class 51 (i)] The supply of secondary air to a furnace through a tube e fitted to the furnace door a, or to the furnace wall, and provided with airadmission openings g leading to an air-heating chamber having walls b, c provided with air discharge openings d, is controlled by an inner tube h which is moved inwardly to close the openings g under the control of a dashpot. The dashpot cylinder n is connected to a bar m on the outer end of the tube e and the dashpot piston p has a rod r secured to a bar s on the inner end of the tube h. The tube h carries a pin i which projects through a curved slot j in the tube e and carries at its outer end an adjustable weight. The pin i is provided with a' roller v which runs in the slot. When the pin i is moved upwardly in the slot the tube h is drawn forwardly to open the openings g. The weight acts upon the tube h and causes it to turn and move forward slowly to close the openings g under the control of the dashpot.
