Abstract

497,115. Thermionic valves. M-O VALVE CO., Ltd., and LE ROSSIGNOL, R. Dec. 23, 1937, No. 35616. [Class 39 (i)] In large thermionic valves of the type in which at least one screening electrode shields the control grid from the anode, a metal cap 14 is fixed to the exterior of the valve, but is joined to and effectively continues the screening electrode within the valve, and an aperture 22 is provided in the cap through which the shielded lead 23 to the control grid 8 is adapted to pass so as to connect the control grid to the shielded remainder of the input circuit. The opening 22 is surrounded by a short cylinder 25 which telescopes into a cylinder 26 between the cap 14 and the box 24 containing the valve of a previous stage. The embodiment described consists of a valve having an external water-cooled anode 1, cathode 6, control grid 8 screen grid 10 and suppressor grid 11, which is connected to the cap 14 by the lead 13 and the extension 12 passing between the walls of the re-entrant glass foot tube 3. The lead 5, 17 to cathode and screen grid pass through insulating bushes 16, 18 and a condenser 21 is connected between the leads 13 and 17.
