[Class 39 (i)] An electron discharge device comprises two or more grid electrodes, substantial portions of which are aligned with one another with respect to the electron stream, while the remaining portions are out of effective alignment. Metal ribbon may be added to, or substituted for, a few of the turns of one of the grids, such as the screening grid of a valve, which comprises control and suppressor grids. An oscillating circuit may be connected between the control grid and the screen grid, and the electron stream is modulated by the suppressor grid.
