Abstract

534,946. Thermionic valves. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Oct. 13, 1939, No. 27848. Convention date, Nov. 16 1938. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] An amplifying valve, especially of the type with the grids &c. formed as coaxial cylinders, is subjected to a magnetic field at right angles to the electron flow for the purpose of regulating or suppressing harmonics of the impressed frequency ; the effect of the field in producing this result is discussed and distinguished from that of similar fields used for other purposes. The field may be applied by means of a winding on an insulating bobbin surrounding a pentode valve of known construction.
