Abstract

496,582. Blow-off valves. BEZ, C. June 5, 1937, No. 15670. [Class 135] [Also in Group XIII] A blow-off valve 6 for deposit in a boiler &c., of the kind opened by admission of steam at 11 to a piston 9, is provided within the body with a safety flap-valve 36. The flap-valve is normally held open by a spring-bolt engaging a notch on an arm on the pivot 37 and is allowed to close under the influence of a spring acting on the arm and/or by the rush of the stream, on withdrawal of the bolt by means of a Bowden wire. The flap-valve is re-set by a handle on the squared end of the pivot 37. The valve 6, which may be replaced by a sliding valve, may be closed by a spring 31 with or without the admission of steam under the piston.
