Abstract
689,796. Valves. MARSHALL, C. B., and MARSHALL, C. July 10, 1951 [June 30, 1950], No. 16363/50. Class 135. A hydraulic stop valve comprises a main valve closure member G connected by a rod H to an actuating piston J slidable in a cylinder K open at its end adjacent the valve member to inlet pressure and closed at its other end. The closed end is connected by a passage M controlled by a doubleseated auxiliary valve N so that the closed end may be connected either to inlet pressure or atmosphere to open or close the main valve. In the passage M between the valve N and the inlet pressure is disposed a filter P and a needle valve Q which latter may be closed to permit the removal of the valve N and the filter P for servicing. A spring R ensures the valve G being seated during installation and when the pipe line in which it is installed is empty.
