Abstract
496,378. Attaching buckles; cast-off fastenings. WALKER, Ltd., T., and WALKER, G. T. June 17, 1938, No. 18016. [Class 43] [Also in Group XXV] In a two-part cast-off fastening of the kind described in Specifications 446,197 and 485,707, [Group XXV], in which one member has an aperture and the other member a head adapted to be passed through the aperture and detachably interlocked therewith, the head is provided with a projection or catch part adapted to engage flexible or resilient parts forming a gapped or divided edge of the aperture in the other member. As applied tor connecting brace tabs to a brace band, Figs. 2 and 3, the fastening comprises a sheet metal plate 3 slotted at 4 to receive the brace band 2 and having an aperture 6 to receive the head 13 of the other sheet metal member 11 which is slotted at 12 to receive the brace tabs 1. A slot 15 in the head member receives a pressed-out lug 9 on the lower edge of the aperture 6, while the cranked head 13 engages with two pressedout lugs 10, 10 on the upper edge of the aperture 6. The transverse bar 8 is divided as at 7 to form two' resilient arms, between which a rolled-back catch 16 can pass with a snap action. When used for fixing a buckle to a strap, Figs. 5 and 6, a rolled-back catch 27 on the head 26 snaps past the resilient corners 22 of a sheet metal plate 18 bearing a buckle 17 and having an aperture 21 for the head. The head part is connected to the strap by a lever-grip device 24.
