Abstract
495,489. Wireless signalling. CORK, E. C., and PAWSEY, J. L. June 23, 1937, No. 17436. [Class 40 (v)] In order to attenuate undesired signals on the outside of a feeder 2, supplying a transmitting aerial 1, an auxiliary conductor 7 is connected between the end A of the feeder and a point B thereon at a distance l from the end A, said conductor 7 being of length l+#/2 and bent as shown to lie on one side of the main feeder, # being the wavelength of the undesired signals. Distortion of the directional diagram of the aerial may be avoided by the provision of a similar auxiliary conductor on the opposite side of the feeder 2. Further attenuation of undesired signals is produced by the quarter wave conductors 3 ... 6 extending in mutually perpendicular pairs from the points A, B of the feeder 2. The auxiliary conductor 7 may alternatively take a zigzag form extending on both sides of the main feeder, Fig. 2 (not shown), or surround the main feeder in the form of a helix, Fig. 3 (not shown). Specification 438,506 is referred to.
