Abstract

722,660. High-frequency transmission lines. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Jan. 16, 1953 [March 5, 1952], No. 1338/53. Addition to 704,050. Class 40 (8). A microwave transmission system as in the parent Specification, having a narrow conductor 1 and a broad conductor 2, is coupled to a line including two parallel conductors 6 and 7, one quarter of an operating wave-length apart, by bringing the ends of conductors 6 and 7 close to, but spaced from conductor 1, and providing an extension 2a of conductor 2 parallel to conductors 6 and 7 to complete the line. A crossconductor 9 is provided which causes the direction of energy flow along one of conductors 6 and 7 to depend on the direction of energy flow along conductors 1 and 2. A pad 10 of lossy material serves as a termination of the other conductor. Either or both of conductors 6 and 7 may have a portion partially encircling conductor 1.
