Abstract

579,414. Impedance networks. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and ROGERS, D. C. Oct. 15, 1941, No. 13272. [Class 40 (iii)] A filter for ultra-high frequencies comprises a thin metallic sheet having alternate wide and narrow portions as shown separated by a sheet of mica or other dielectric material from another metallic sheet which, if the filter is to be balanced, is of the same form as the first one. The several sheets may be clamped together, or a layer of metal, such as copper or silver, may be deposited on one or both sides of the dielectric sheet. In the case of an unbalanced filter, the second metallic sheet may constitute a part of the screen of the apparatus in which the filter is mounted, and preferably an 'additional earthed metal screen is provided outside the formed sheet. The Specification contains a mathematical discussion and explains the procedure for designing the filter to meet given requirements. Specification 541,380 is referred to.
