Abstract
547,357. Filters using piezo-electric crystals. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Sept. 5, 1941, No. 11369. Convention date, Sept. 14, 1940. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] A filter comprises a pair of crystals 5, 6 having the same principal resonance frequency but different secondary resonance frequencies and connected as shown with a common electrode 13 co-operating with unplated faces, a bridging arm comprising a condenser ¢C, and preferably a resistance 2R, a series arm connected to the common electrode and comprising an inductance ¢L and preferably a condenser 2C2, and additional condensers C3 connected as shown. All the purely electrical elements are preferably variable. The equivalent lattice is shown in Fig. 2. The crystals are of the AT type as described in Specification 540,184 and are partially plated on one side only and clamped between recessed ceramic members 14, 15 piovided with silver globules as at 19 acting as terminals and strips of plating to connect the crystal plating to the globules. The common electrode 11 is a recessed steel disc. The dimensions of the members 11, 14 and 15 are such that the crystals are only held at the corners.
