Abstract
1319946 Acoustic surface wave filter SIEMENS AG 28 April 1971 [29 April 1970] 11781/71 Heading H3U To increase the selectivity of a filter comprising interdigitated electrodes 20, 21; 30, 31, Fig. 5, 2-4, 6, 7, Fig. 4, mounted upon a quadrilateral piezoelectric ceramic substrate polarized parallel to its thickness, attenuation poles are provided on either side of the pass band. Provision of attenuation poles. (i) Silvered areas (5), Fig. 3 (not shown), each about half the area of its associated electrode may be provided opposite each of input and output sets of electrodes, Fig. 2 (not shown). (ii) Sets 2, 4, 6, 7, Fig. 4, of input electrodes may be spaced to provide attenuation poles when for example d 2 -d 1 = (n + ¢)#p where #p is the mechanical wavelength at the attenuation pole frequency, 3 being the output electrodes. The input may be fed to terminals 20 and 22. (iii) The input and output electrodes 20, 31 whose potentials are in anti-phase during filter operation, may be coupled electrically via a series circuit of a resistor R and capacitor C, Fig. 5, which may be discrete components, or the resistor may be a thick film and the capacitor a set of interdigitated coplanar electrodes, both being formed on the substrate.
