Abstract

712,306. High frequency electric filters. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. July 11, 1952 [Aug. 1, 1951], No. 17563/52. Class 40 (8) A microwave filter comprises a broad conductor 2 which has a relatively narrow conductor 1 disposed parallel thereto to form a resonant line. The input and output connections 7 and 9 to line 1 may be connected directly thereto as shown in Fig. 1. Alternatively in the multiple section filter shown in Fig. 7 the connections 28, 30 and 31 terminate a little away from conductors 1 and form capacity couplings therewith. The line 1 may be one half the operating wave length and connected to conductor 2 at each end or one quarter wave length long and only connected at one end. A layer of dielectric material 3 may space the conductors 1 and 2. In order to screen conductor 1, it may be mounted in a trough in conductor 2 filled with dielectric, or it may also be sandwiched between two conductors 2. In the multisection filter shown walls 34 and 35 on plate 2 form, in effect, troughs on the plate to enclose the filter system. Specifications 704,050 and 708,601 are referred to.
