Abstract

742,999. Coaxial cables. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Nov. 25, 1953 [Feb. 6, 1953], No. 3478/53. Addition to 706,397. Class 40 (8). The sliding coaxial cable expansion joint structure of the parent Specification is modified in that two junctions J1, J2 are included in the run of the inner conductor 3, 5, 4 and one joint J3 is included in the run of the outer conductor 1, 2. The outer and inner conductors 1, 3 of the left-hand section of the line are pinned together by dielectric posts P2 and the intermediate section 5 of the inner conductor is pinned by dielectric posts P1 to the outer conductor 2 of the right-hand section of the line. Assuming that the left-hand section of the line is fixed, expansion of the right-hand section is taken up by joints J2, J3 and any differential expansion between the outer and inner conductors of the right-hand section is taken up by joint J1. A modification is described (Fig. 3, not shown) in which the left-hand section 1, 3 is enlarged and slides over the intermediate section 2, 5 at the joints J3, J2.
