Abstract

841,118. Strip-line networks. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Aug. 23, 1957 [Aug. 27, 1956], No. 26700/57. Class 40(8) In strip-line waveguide circuitry an inversion transition is effected by reciprocally interchanging the widths of the ground and line conductors adjacent the required point and electrical connections are made at this point between the strip conductor and the ground conductor and viceversa. The ground conductor 14, is shown on the left-hand side of the figure associated with branched line conductors in some microstrip circuitry 17. The conductor 14 is tapered off to the right until at transition 13 it leads into a further section of branched line conductors 18. Similarly ground conductor 15 is tapered off at 13 into the first-mentioned branched line conductors and thus the circuit connections at both ends are effectively shielded from one another. In other embodiments, Figs. 7 and 9 (not shown), the strip-line inversion is used to produce a 180 degree phase reversal in a hybrid ring circuit having a circumference of one wavelength.
