Abstract

761,781. Microwave transmission lines. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Nov. 20, 1953 [Jan. 9, 1953], No. 32231/53. Class 40 (8). A microwave transmission line comprises a section 4 of the " line above ground type described in Specifications 704,050, 708,601 and 761,764, having conductors 1, 2 with a dielectric material therebetween connected to a similar line 5 at an angle thereto. The conductors 1 may be connected to form an integral strip, and the conductors 2 are extended at their junction to form stubs 7, 8 which tune out the effect of higher order modes. The stubs may be tuned by a diagonal conductor 9. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown), each stub may have its own conductor. As applied to a power divider, Fig. 4, energy propagated along the line 12 is divided over lines 14, 15, the conductor 19 being extended to form a stub 18. Impedance matching between the lines is accomplished by a transformer section 22 of sector form, the radius of which is dependent on the line widths and dielectric spacing. The conductors and the transformer section may be printed on the dielectric material.
