Abstract

515,853. Wireless signalling. KOLSTERBRANDES, Ltd., and CHATTERJEA, P. K. June 14, 1938, No. 17669. [Class 40 (v)] A transmission line is coupled to a dipole antenna by an impedance transformer comprising a' rectilinear loop having an inductive reactance equal to that of that part of the dipole coupled thereto. In one embodiment, the line is formed into a loop A<1>, B\ D<1>, C<1>, the side A<1>B<1> of which is parallel to the central portion AB of the dipole 1 and may be suspended therefrom by insulators 6. A screen S, which may or may not be earthed, is located between the antenna and the coupling loop and is electrically balanced with respect to the axis of symmetry O, O<1> perpendicular to the antenna. In a further embodiment the screen consists of a tubular Faraday cage coaxial with the loop conductors and left unearthed or earthed at the centre point or connected to the feeder screen if provided.
