Abstract

467,012. Wireless aerials. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 4, 1937, No. 209. Convention date, Jan 3, 1936. [Class 40 (v)] In order to couple a half-wave aerial 1 to a high-frequency source 9, without creating standing waves on the transmission line 2, the oute: conductor 4 of the line is connected to the lower limb 8 of a quarter-wave impedance - matching section 5 whilst the inner conductor 37 is connected to a point some distance along the arm 7 of the balancing section. This equates the impedance of the line 2 to that of the aerial 1 and also balances the load. The same form of coupling can be usec in the case of an open two-wire trans mission line.
