Abstract
698,509. High-frequency electric filters. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Nov. 28, 1951 [Feb. 26, 1951], No. 4688/51. Class 40 (viii). A filter for very high frequencies consisting of sections of transmission line comprises one or more T-shaped stubs consisting of an arm l3 connecting the line along which the signals pass to the junction of two arms l1 and l2, the length of arm l3 being other than one quarter wavelength or a multiple thereof at any operating frequency of the filter. A known filter having stubs l1 and l2 connected at one point of a transmission line to produce a stop frequency and a pass frequency in the line, can readily be constructed. The addition of the arm l3 results in a filter appreciably less loss-producing at the pass frequency. The constructions in Figs. 3 and 4 can be seen to be electrically equivalent to the straightforward T construction of Fig. 2.
